Nyras

"That is why he and the gurus have been preparing the Great Awakening, a grand ritual where the best of us will join our minds so the Sleeper may truly speak to us for the first time."

Nyras greets the Hero warmly as a lost soul saved by the Sleeper's wisdom and introduces himself by name. Asked about the camp, he stresses respect for the gurus, calling them the most important people around since they spread the Sleeper's teachings and relay Master Y'Berion's holy visions to the novices, a privilege made necessary because Y'Berion is too weary from his close bond to the Sleeper to speak to everyone himself, though he sometimes gives sermons at Temple Square.

Pressed further, Nyras explains that the Sleeper's visions to Y'Berion are deliberately abstract, "pictures, memories, word fragments," because a full connection would cause a human mind, even Y'Berion's, to crumble under his power. This is why the gurus are preparing the Great Awakening, a ritual meant to let the Sleeper finally speak clearly and show them the path to freedom. He credits Cor Kalom, the chief alchemist, with preparing the dreamjuice elixir used for the ritual, which puts drinkers into a heightened state, since that state and dreams are the only way to receive the Sleeper's signals. Asked what the Sleeper has told him personally, Nyras is more reserved, saying only that it's "hard to grasp unless you've experienced it, too."
