Nefarius

"I believe you would be a worthy addition to our ranks. The Water Mages, I mean."

Nefarius introduces himself as a mage of the Circle of Water. He tells the Hero the path to joining the Water Mages runs through Lee's mercenaries first, explaining that membership requires the Hero to achieve something great for their cause and to have served with the mercenaries for a while. Once the Hero has joined Lee's men, Nefarius approves.

When the Hero returns from the Old Camp, Nefarius is anxious for news of the Fire Mages, having heard rumors. Told that Gomez murdered them, he is horrified, calling Gomez "that rotten butcher" and insisting the Hero report it to Saturas immediately. He credits the Hero's risk-taking on the Water Mages' behalf and says he now believes the Hero would be a worthy addition to their ranks, encouraging him to raise it with Saturas. He also directs the Hero to Saturas's cave, identifiable by its big, circular gate.
