Jeremiah introduces himself as the camp's rice schnapps brewer, giving the Hero a free drink on the house but asking him to keep quiet about it and not breathe a word to Silas. Asked about business, he says he can barely keep up with how much the men drink, but he doesn't mind, since it keeps the Rice Lord's goons off his back.

Asked about the Rice Lord, Jeremiah is blunt, calling him "the gang lord of a band of ruffians who force the weaker to work the fields for them" behind a friendly face. He says the only man who could stand up to the Rice Lord is Horatio, but claims Horatio has gone soft since arriving, adding that Horatio once admitted he's "THIS close to knocking that bastard's lights out" but holds back because of an oath he swore to himself.
