Jarvis
"This place ain't like the Old Camp, and it sure ain't the Swamp Camp neither. We do things our own way down here."
Jarvis stands watch at the New Camp gate and is the first to greet the Hero on arrival, warning him this place runs differently from the Old Camp or the Swamp Camp, noting there are no templars or warders looking after anyone and that the mercs are the only ones who stick together.
He explains the mages mostly study the blue ore, working toward a plan to blow up the whole pile the miners have dug so its magic will shatter the barrier, insisting "they say it's safe." That pile sits under a grated hole in the middle of the cave, and Jarvis warns the Hero against getting any ideas about stealing from it, since they keep their eyes on it day and night.
Asked about the mercenaries' purpose, Jarvis says they work for General Lee protecting the mages and the ore, but frames it as more than a job. Unlike Gomez and his lot in the Old Camp, who he says have given up, the New Camp mercs refuse to accept their situation, declaring, "we WILL get outta here. And that's what we're fightin' for." He lists the camp's population as farmers, diggers, mages, and Lares's gang, and notes the ore pile is steadily growing as the scrapers work day and night.
