Grim

"It's the only way they'll ever take me in."

Grim introduces himself to the Hero as a recent arrival, having only just gotten there himself after coming in with the haul the week before. Asked how to get accepted into the Old Camp, he explains that anyone uninterested in digging is better off joining the Shadows, and that doing so means finding someone to vouch for you and show you the ropes; he recommends sticking with Diego, adding that he did the same and found him decent. He lays out the process: score points with the other Shadows first, then your mentor gives you a test of his own, and once you pass you get to see Gomez, and it's up to him from there. Asked about his own progress, Grim says he has already won over Dexter, Sly, and Fingers, calling them important people to have on his side.

Grim pitches the Hero on a job, having spotted a man outside camp bragging about stealing an amulet off the last convoy from the ore barons. He wants help taking the man and his partner down, admitting he can't do it alone. Depending on how the Hero responds, he offers to return the amulet himself and put in a good word with Gomez, or to split it evenly, and once the Hero commits he's eager to move, saying only "Music to my ears."

When challenged over his loyalty to the warders, Grim is blunt about his survival strategy: he does whatever they tell him because it's the only way they'll ever take him in, and calls never crossing a warder "the first and most important lesson everyone learns in here." If the Hero chooses to make peace with him after a scuffle, Grim commits to the friendship, promising backup whenever needed and admitting he owes him one. He refuses to describe his own test when asked, calling the details confidential.

Elsewhere, Grim is seen leading the Hero out to a spot where Diego can't hear them, only to reveal, "Bloodwyn sends his regards," hinting he has also been running errands for Bloodwyn. In a lighter moment he excitedly notes that the band In Extremo has turned up in the camp.
