Gomez

"That's exactly what it means. You're one of us now, freshie."

When the Hero seeks him out early in the story to join the Old Camp, Gomez is openly skeptical of another newcomer, asking "what makes YOU special?" and threatening to call the guards if he thinks the Hero simply snuck in uninvited. He presses the Hero to justify himself, dismissing the claim that other camp members are lazy as mostly true but no proof of anything, and only warms up once the Hero cites contacts across the Colony, agreeing that knowing the right people is actually a good reason. He accepts name drops of Lares, fences from the New Camp, and baals from the Brotherhood, and notes approvingly that hearing Diego trusts the Hero and Thorus vouches for him already speaks well of him, since he wouldn't be talking to Gomez otherwise. When the Hero falsely claims a connection to Y'Berion, though, Gomez sees through it immediately, snapping that Y'Berion wouldn't waste his time with a freshie like him, and calling the lie disappointing, adding coldly, "I hate being disappointed."

Once satisfied, Gomez tells the Hero plainly that he's one of them now, and sends him to Raven for his first assignment. Afterward he keeps his distance from routine matters, telling the Hero that Raven handles the moles and that he should not speak to Gomez again unless asked to.

After the Chapter 3 massacre of the Fire Mages, Gomez sends his men to raid the Free Mine. When the Hero helps the New Camp retake the mine and claims credit for foiling the raid, Gomez confronts him as an enemy and warns that he'll personally make sure the Hero never gets in his way again.
