Baloro

"I have somethin' in me stock that even Innos would kneel before."

Baloro sizes up the Hero on approach, asking what's the matter with him. When the Hero mentions wanting a sword, sturdy armor, or mine access, he waves it off, telling him to think bigger and describing a weapon in his stock so fine even Innos would kneel before it, one that will make the Hero the meanest bastard of the Colony. In exchange he asks for what he calls a teeny, tiny favor: five apples, two bottles of rice brandy, five bottles of beer, three loafs of bread, two pieces of cheese, and two straws of grapes, supplies he says are for a banquet.

When the Hero actually delivers the goods, Baloro takes them and then flatly refuses to hand over the promised weapon. He mocks the Hero for trusting him, saying "whoever's dumb enough to agree to something like this deserves to be fucked over" and admitting he's surprised the Hero is still alive, warning that being that gullible means he won't last long in this place. He keeps the supplies for his own banquet anyway, laughing it off, and threatens violence if pushed further, telling the Hero to piss off and go whine to someone else or he'll mess him up. If confronted aggressively, he warns, "Careful, green blood. Thin ice." To anyone who declines the deal outright or comes back too late to reconsider, his answer is the same: it's their loss, they had their chance.
